Latin American Nursing Student Initiative
2009-2010
The Latin American Nursing Student Initiative (LANSI), formerly known as LANSM, is a student-run group that intends to facilitate access to health care services and contribute to community development for people living in Latin America.
We need your support to accomplish this in successfully, and these are some of the ways you can support our cause:
1. Join the LANSI group.
2. Ask your friends to join and support the LANSI project.
3. Tell others about the LANSI project and ask them to contact us.
4. Contact us by e-mail to make a donation or volunteer for us.
5. Come to our fundraising events.
Supporting the LANSI project is meaningful to you, your local community and your global community because:
1. You are supporting a students' initiative and your future nurses.
2. You are demonstrating a sense of social responsibility as you are contributing to the LANSI project whose main objective is to make a difference among disadvantaged communities in Latin America.
3. You are supporting student leadership and the development of your global community.
The LANSI team recognizes the value of cultural exchange and is convinced that they can make a difference.
If you have any questions, comments or are interested in supporting the LANSI project, put up a posting or contact us at nursingmission@gmail.com
Our Vision
Who we are:
Who we are:
The LANSI team consists of eleven nursing students, three health science students and one political science student from the University of Western Ontario. There are five nursing students who are working together this year to raise $13,000 to return to Cuzco, Peru to continue making a difference in Latin America. They are operating under the guidance of the six UWO students who established LANSI (formally known as LANSM) in 2008. Behind the scenes are three UWO students who are developing a global health course outline. Our goal is to lobby faculty and eventually implement it into our curriculum to give nursing students the opportunity to learn about global health in a practical and theoretical setting.
